Race calculator

I've been trying to figure out the whole "split" thing... and you know me and numbers,  I thought is was some major calculation thingy and I didn't understand "negative splits" blah blah blah... so after much research,  whaddaya know ??  Basically,  a split is just a point in the race and what your time was.  It's a gauge to determine if you're staying on pace.  Got it !   A 'negative split'  means that you did the second half stronger / faster than the first half ... ah ha !  Like I'll ever have to worry about a 'negative' anything :)

However - it is a good tool to figure out what your pace is,  and then to see if you are on track at a certain point in the race

Race planner
This calculator helps you set the target pace for your next race, marathon or running event by calculating splits for your goal finishing time.

Smart runners know that there's more to racing than gutting it out to the finish line (ok.. well then I'm no help here as I just wanna finish). Racing takes both planning and discipline -- the second part is up to you, but we can at least help with the planning.

Good race planning means setting a realistic goal time for the race, setting an appropriate target pace, and then sticking to it (there might be my problem,  I never paid attention to a 'pace'.. i just put one foot in front of the other). New and intermediate racers will often get the best results by sticking to an even, sustainable pace throughout the race.  (brilliant... i should have thought about that a year ago !)

Use this calculator  (link is above)  to determine your target split times for your marathon or race, and then stick to those times during the race -- especially at the beginning when you may be tempted to go out too fast  (yeah,  that whole 'going out too fast' never really an issue for me !!).

Happy running!
