Saturday - 5 mile run in the rain :)


This is what I woke up to... rain... I know, shocking right ? So, I sucked it up. Training program said 5 mile run today. And it didn't sat 'only if you feel like it' or 'only if there's good weather'. It said FIVE MILES. Alrighty then. I haven't done 5 miles since April, but if you say so...
I put on a hat, my fav long sleeve Pineapple Classic tech shirt, new running shorts, the stable Brooks, and headed to Greenlake. The inside path at Greenlake is 2.8 miles. While walking to the path from the car, and trying to find the playlist on my ipod, I walked thru the deepest puddle ever. Great... I'm a goober.
Got to the path and off I went ! I did the full 2.8 without stopping. That's amazing for me you know. I did skip a few times :) Skipping makes it a little more fun, and, you still can go the same speed !!! Second lap, a little ouch so I walked a bit. All total, 5.6 miles in the cold rain in 1:01. And of that, only 4 minutes were walked ! Stellar for me! I'll take it !!!! wahooo !!!
Currently, shin is good, joints are a little achey and lower back is a bit crabby. I think when it's wet out, I worry about falling, so I run a bit more tensed up than I should... ergo... everything is a little more stiff at the end. But... I'm good, and I'll have to say... it was a GOOD run !!

After my Greenlake jaunt, Rob and I were talking calories in / calories out while walking to the Sounders game. Interestingly enough, the same topic is in my latest Women's Health. 47% of Americans OVER estimate how many calories they should eat daily... what ?? Us Americans eat TOO much ??!?!? ha !
So, basic, simple rule.... ready ?
YOUR WEIGHT X 11 = the number of calories PER DAY YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO EAT and still lose a pound per week. **assuming you exercise at least 30 minutes three times a week**

There ya go... learn it, use it, live it, lose it !
